Classification for indoor installation products
Emicode is the registered and protected trademark of a classification system by which indoor installation products, adhesives and construction materials can be categorised according to their emission characteristics.
EC1: very low emission
EMICODE R EC1
The “R” (which stands for “regulated) was established for materials that are very low-emission but require safety precautions to be taken when working with them. Although these products do involve certain hazards requiring special safety measures during application, they are still worthy of classification according to EMICODE® as regards their emission behavior.
Therefore, cement-containing materials which demand the wearing of protective gloves and protective goggles to protect skin and eyes are marked with an “R”.
The same goes for reactive resin products which have to be labelled as hazardous substances and other products on which special conditions for safe use are imposed. The “R” therefore stands for “regulated”. In these cases, the EMICODE® label includes a grey R in the background.
Legislations such as the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) aim to improve the safety of products and create a healthy work environment. LEED and BREEAM certification is also making it more important for specifiers and contractors to choose more sustainable products. A lot of UZIN leveling compounds have been awarded an EC1 R Plus® classification for being very low emission and provides the most ecological approach for flooring installations.
EC1 Plus was introduced in 2010. This is a premium class describing the limits of what is technically possible and setting even more stringent limit values.

A lighter bag
Health and safety measures increasingly puts pressure on companies within the construction industry to improve safety standards for their employees. In the flooring industry there is a particular concern when flooring contractors have to lift and move heavy bags of leveling compounds and screeds. As a response to these health and safety concerns we have reduced the weight of our most popular UZIN leveling compounds. The transportation of leveling compounds is easier and safer for our flooring contractors.

Human and Environmental health
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design
It is a rating system that measures the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings, homes and neighborhoods.
LEED was developed by the U.S. GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL (USGBC) to guide the building industry and provide standards for the sustainability for a variety of building projects.
LEED Certification provides independent, third-party verification that a home was designed and built to achieve high performance in key areas (sustainable sites, Water Efficiency, Energy, Atmosphere, Materials, Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality) of human and environmental health.

The Ökoline, since the early 90s, stands for its low-emission and health-friendly products. That has not changed until today.
Marine / Wheelmark
The Wheelmark is a mark of conformity valid throughout the EU, confirming suitability of the respective product for marine equipment in accordance with Council of the European Community Directive 96/98/EC on marine equipment (EC Marine Equipment Directive – MED). To obtain this mark of conformity, a defined fire test must be passed.
In addition to this EC type examination, monitoring measures carried out by an accredited body are required, e.g. a quality management system as per Module D. The support organisation for the Wheelmark is the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) an affiliate organisation of the UNO.

Our premium quality leveling compounds with excepetional flow and excellent absorbency produce an outstanding finish.
All UZIN leveling compounds are labeled with CE marking to guarantee that each bag has the specific compressive strength and flexural strength. Declaration of performance certificates can be found within our online product guide.
The mark of conformity
The mark of conformity (Ü-Zeichen) designates laying materials that fulfill the
relevant technical specifications of the building authorities.
General building authority approvals are granted for construction products and methods in the area of application as defined by the state building authorities. They are reliable proof of the usability of construction products. The German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) is the German licensing authority for general building authority approvals for construction products.
